A Cambodian was killed on May 28, 2026 after an unexploded cluster munition detonated while he was collecting firewood in a contaminated area, Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) Director-General Heng Ratana said.
In a statement, Ratana said the explosive device was identified as an M46 cluster submunition left behind from the conflict linked to Thai aggression. The victim died at the site after accidentally striking the ordnance.
