Two teenage boys have been charged after a suspected chemical attack at a south-west London railway station which caused two police officers to be taken to hospital.
The boys, aged 14 and 16, were spotted at Surbiton railway station “acting suspiciously” at around 16.20 GMT on Friday. British Transport Police said when officers approached the pair, they were “exposed to a substance believed to be alkaline”. The teenagers, who were arrested at the scene, have been charged with possession of a corrosive substance in a public place.
