India: Security forces ramp up operations, seize arms and ammunition in Manipur


Security forces in Manipur have intensified search and seizure operations across vulnerable areas of the state as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.

In a major crackdown, forces conducted operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both the hill and valley districts, uncovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition. During the operation, Manipur Police and Assam Rifles recovered a variety of weapons from Khengmol Hill in Churachandpur District. The seized items included a tear gas gun, a country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine, five 12-bore single-barrel shotguns, eight rounds of live ammunition, 13 improvised mortar shells, and five improvised heavy mortars.
