Belarusian customs prevented the smuggling of 580 kg of explosives into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
This was the largest shipment of explosives in the country’s history, according to the Customs Committee. According to customs officials, a 41-year-old driver attempted to smuggle 580 kg of particularly dangerous foreign explosives across the Polish-Belarusian border and transport it further into Russia. He was stopped at the Brest checkpoint in a Mercedes minibus. Customs officials sent the vehicle for X-ray scanning. This is a standard practice carried out as part of a risk analysis using an inspection and testing complex.
