On Saturday night, September 21, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to a report of a suspicious package in the Centennial neighbourhood. The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 PM when a resident discovered a package in the back lane that appeared to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The WPS Bomb Unit was called in to safely handle the package. After a thorough examination, the bomb squad determined that the package was indeed a potential threat and took necessary precautions to neutralize it. Shortly after 1:10 am on Sunday, September 22, 2024, a WPS Bomb disposal robot was deployed and the device was shot and destroyed
