UK: Theft victim jailed over plan to make booby trap bombs


A man considered making potentially deadly “booby traps” after a series of thefts at his home, a court has heard. Shazad Khan, 52, sparked a large-scale evacuation of his street in Glasgow’s west end after suspicious items were found in his four-bedroom flat.

He had been due to stand trial at the High Court in Glasgow but instead pleaded guilty to a charge under the Explosives Substances Act. Khan was jailed for three years and 11 months for actions that the judge described as “frankly baffling”.
