A Redruth man who was arrested following an explosion and discovery of a suspicious device in the town has been released under investigation.
Armed police evacuated the streets around Redruth train station on Monday afternoon (October 1) after reports of a suspicious device being found in the grounds of the Methodist church in Higher Fore Street.
The discovery followed what police described as a “small explosion” in Redruth on Sunday night.
Officers descended on a property in the town and arrested a 20-year-old man from Redruth under the Explosives Act.
Experts from the Royal Navy’s explosives ordnance disposal unit were on hand to assist police with the situation.
