Police arrest man on suspicion of manufacturing explosives in Burnham

Police have executed warrants in Burnham today (Thursday) as part of an investigation into the possession of explosives.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) raided a property in The Fairway at 11am this morning, and conducted operations at the London Clancy Industrial Warehouse site off Britwell Road, Burnham at 1pm.

Further searches are ongoing.

A 41-year-old man from Burnham has been arrested on suspicion of making explosive substances for unlawful purpose. He is currently being held in police custody.

TVP said that this was not a counter-terrorism operation.

The Fairway was closed during the operation, but has since re-opened.

Inspector Brendan Murray said: “I understand this warrant may cause concern to local residents but I want to reassure the community that the road was closed as a precautionary measure.

“There are ongoing searches and residents may see officers in protective equipment. Police dogs have also been at the scene to help with the searches, which may take a number of days.
