Explosive detection dogs uncovered blasting materials that may have completed a sea voyage aboard a vessel before being discovered at Puerto Princesa Port on September 13.
The cargo was initially reported to weigh about 13 metric tons, but an inventory conducted after its discovery placed the total at 15.75 metric tons.
At least two trucks carrying the materials arrived aboard MV St. Francis Xavier, a passenger and roll-on/roll-off cargo vessel operated by 2GO. They were stopped from leaving the port after Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) K9 dogs detected chemical odors during a random panel inspection, according to a civilian Palawan News source.
