Pakistan: Two soldiers injured in South Waziristan IED blast

Two security personnel sustained serious injuries in a blast in South Waziristan tribal district on Thursday, local sources said.

The sources said an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near Dashka check post in Makeen area of South Waziristan due to which two soldiers identified as Naik Irfan and Sepoy Qasim sustained injuries. The injured soldiers were shifted to a hospital in Razmak.

The security forces cordoned off the entire area after the IED blast and launched a search operation. However, no arrest was made during the search operation.

The security forces carried out operations in tribal districts after which most of the militants were driven out of these areas. However, militants still have some presence in tribal districts, particularly in Waziristan region, where they target the security forces mostly through IEDs.
