International Trade Secretary Liz Truss was forced to admit to further breaches of a legal undertaking that Britain will halt arms exports to Saudi Arabia.
In an embarrassing acknowledgement of continuing problems with controls on weapons exports, Ms Truss said an internal review had uncovered a licence allowing the repair of equipment used by Saudi forces to detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The Government gave an undertaking to the Court of Appeal in June this year to halt the granting of new licences for equipment that could be used by Saudi Arabia in the ongoing conflict in Yemen after judges ruled that ministers had failed to properly assess whether such weaponry could be used on civilians.
