Northern Ireland: PSNI carry out controlled explosion on ‘WW2-style device’


The PSNI has carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious object in Co Londonderry. Army Technical Officers (ATOs) were called to the scene of the incident in Coleraine on Monday following reports of a suspicious object in the area.

Police said the object was identified as a Second World War-style device. “A suspicious object discovered at a construction site in the Strand Road area of Coleraine on Monday September 15 has been made safe,” added a spokesperson.
