Two hero police officers have been honoured for tackling a gunman in a car full of explosives without waiting for armed back-up.
PCs Mark Patterson and Stuart Bratherton were called to Sandy Lane, West Kirby , after 52-year-old Andrew Gosling threatened another man with a handgun in a road rage incident on September 27, 2017.
The pair have now been nominated for a National Police Bravery award for putting the safety of the public over their own.
The Merseyside Police officers arrived as Gosling, of Leigh Road, West Kirby, was trying to drive away and followed in pursuit, providing updates as their colleagues prepared to dispatch armed response officers.
