Florida: Homemade explosives found at home of Ocala man charged with aggravated assault on officer

An Ocala man is in custody after deputies say they removed several homemade explosive devices from his home.

On Oct. 27, Paul Thomas Giangrasso, 47, was arrested for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, deputies say. During the arrest process, Giangrasso made several statements that caused concern regarding him possessing any weapons.

As a result, a risk protection order was granted, and Giangrasso was ordered to surrender any weapons he owned, deputies say. Giangrasso refused, so deputies and members of the sheriff’s office’s bomb squad served a search warrant at his home on Monday.

Inside, they recovered explosive rifle targets, five improvised explosive devices, two altered hand grenades, a plastic container of explosive powder, consumer-grade fireworks and several firearms, deputies say.
