Organised crime is growing in Finland and there is a high demand for weapons. The routes and connections from Ukraine to Finland are already in place. The police are hoping for additional resources for an increasing workload due to the war in Ukraine.

The National Bureau of Investigation now has in its possession intelligence-based indications that weapons end up in Finland for criminals.
“We have signs that these weapons already exist in Finland,” Detective Superintendent Christer Ahlgren of the National Bureau of Investigation says. “Weapons supplied to Ukraine have also been found in Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.” The information concerns military weapons, such as assault rifles. International police officials have said that not only rifles, but also pistols, grenades and combat drones are sought after.
