Police investigations are ongoing after bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on an improvised device found in a garden at Orford, Warrington, yesterday.
A number of roads were closed around the Birtles Avenue area and homes evacuated following the discover of the device. Police received a report of an improvised device being found in the front garden of an address in Birtles Road at 2:15pm.
The area was cordoned off with a number of neighbouring properties evacuated as a precaution.
The EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) team attended to the scene and following an assessment they carried out a controlled detonation of the improvised device.
