Counter-terrorism police are investigating the death of a man and the assault of another in Hartlepool. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the incident in the Tees Street area of the town in the early hours of Sunday.
Cleveland police said they were working with counter-terrorism policing north-east to investigate the incident. A force spokesperson said there was not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.
