The dramatic moment 120 grenades are blown up in a Sevenoaks garden


Fire crews and bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion in Sevenoaks earlier today (October 5).

Residents close to the property on Woodside Road were advised to keep all windows and doors closed as a precaution.

Kent Fire and Rescue said that there had been a discovery “of around 120 Second World War phosphorous grenades in a back garden.”

The devices were safely detonated in a trench dug in a field opposite the property at around 3.20pm.

The explosion cause a large fire, which was managed by the Kent Fire and Rescue team attending the scene.
