The Somali National Army’s (SNA) 60 Unit killed two al-Shabab militants and recovered weapons after conducting a special operation at a village in Lower Shabelle region, southern Somalia, officials said Saturday.
SNA said in a brief statement that the army conducted the sting operation on Friday night at Gorsarow near Bulamarer town where the troops killed two al-Shabab terrorists who were found planting landmines along the road.
“The terrorists were experts in mine action and were killed while planting landmines to harm innocent people. The army also seized their equipment including AK-47 rifles, batteries and remote controls used for making explosive devices,” the statement said.
