At least six police officials were martyred and another eight were left injured as militants attacked police checkpoints and patrols across seven districts in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, including Peshawar, Upper Dir and Lower Dir, police said on Thursday.
The attacks coincided with national celebrations of the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan.
