A remote-controlled bomb exploded near an armoured police vehicle in the Ashrogi area of Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday.
According to police officials, the blast did not cause any casualties or major damage. However, the explosion was immediately followed by an exchange of gunfire after unidentified assailants opened fire on the police personnel. The attackers managed to escape following the brief firefight. In response, security forces launched a search operation in the area to track down the suspects.
