Northern Ireland: Young family escapes injury after Dervock pipe bomb attack


A mother and her two young children have escaped injury after a pipe bomb was planted on their car at their home near Dervock in Co Antrim.

The device was one of three found at the centre of security alerts in the Dervock and Derrykeighan areas on Thursday morning.

The mum only discovered the pipe bomb wedged between the bonnet and windscreen after she had put her children into the vehicle.

A number of homes had to be evacuated and diversions had to be put in place in the vicinity of the Castlecat Road and the Knock Road in Dervock and at the Castlecat Road in Derrykeighan.
