Northern Ireland: ‘Viable pipe bomb type device’ found by PSNI during security alert in Cookstown, Co Tyrone


A number of residents were evacuated from their Co Tyrone homes on Friday afternoon after a viable pipe bomb type device was found in the area.

Police and Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene in the Millburn Close area of Cookstown following the discovery of a suspicious object shortly after midday. After examination, this was found to be a viable pipe bomb type device.

The security alert has now ended.
