A federal jury has convicted an operative of a Somalian terrorist organization of conspiring to kill Americans in an attack modeled after the Sept. 11 hijackings.
Cholo Abdi Abdullah, 34, was convicted in New York on Monday of six charges, including conspiring to support the terror organization Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mijahideen, which is commonly known as Al Shabaab, and conspiring to murder Americans. After training for months in Somalia with AK-47 rifles and explosives, Abdullah spent months at a flight school in the Philippines training to obtain a commercial pilot license and researched how to target tall buildings in U.S. cities, according to the indictment and evidence at trial.
