The pooch, named Cheese, was well known to staff at Campbelltown’s Animal Care Facility for his tendency to climb and jump fences and make escapes.
Cheese was rehomed several times, but always seemed to let himself out and return to the facility.
His tenacity – and love of catching and retrieving – caught the eye of facility staff, and in 2019 they had Cheese assessed for suitability to become an Explosives Detection Dog (EDD).
The staff contacted Holsworthy Army Barracks, who in turn were impressed by the kelpie’s energy and skills.
From Campbelltown to Darwin, an energetic rescue kelpie has had quite a journey. https://t.co/04rh4Bc9tY
