Michigan governor kidnappers attempted to make IEDs and discussed using IIDs to counter first responders


State and federal officials have charged 13 men with various offenses related to an alleged coup plotted against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a scheme that involved months of planning and even rehearsals to kidnap the governor from her vacation home.

Of the suspects, seven are facing charges on the state level, while the other six are federally charged.

Below is a breakdown of what authorities have alleged against the six federally charged men. They are charged with conspiring to kidnap the governor of Michigan from her vacation home prior to the November election, according to U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Andrew Birge. The charge is a life offense.
