Wilbraham and Ludlow residents were disrupted by the sound of a loud explosion on Wednesday evening after police safely detonated an old explosive device one resident found in their basement, according to a Wilbraham Police Department spokesperson.
On Wednesday, Wilbraham police received a report from a resident who found what appeared to be an “old explosive device” while cleaning out his basement.
The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene and safely removed the explosive device from the Wilbraham resident’s home. Authorities transported the device to an area adjacent to Wilbraham’s wastewater facility near the Chicopee River.
