A ‘booby trapped’ body that exploded during its own funeral killed 17 mourners after jihadists planted the corpse with explosives.
The man had gone to find grass for his cattle in a forest near his home in Diankabou, central Mali, on Tuesday and never returned.
His corpse was later found by authorities in bushes dressed in military fatigues but when his family gathered for a funeral the body exploded.
Among the 17 people killed were the man’s parents as 15 others were wounded by the force of the blast.
