Leicestershire: ‘Unexploded devices’ found in river near King Power Stadium, police cordon off towpath

People fishing with powerful magnets have once again found what are thought to be unexploded devices in the River Soar in Leicester.

A group searching a section of the water near Leicester’s King Power Stadium retrieved what they believed to be two grenades at 3pm.

Police sealed off a stretch of the path and contacted the Army’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit, (EOD).

The closure had no effect on surrounding roads or on supporters leaving the Leicester City stadium after the 0 – 0 draw with Wolves.
