India: Low intensity IED found at Mangaluru international airport


The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Monday said that it had discovered a bag containing an improvised explosive device (IED) in the premises of Mangaluru airport, about 360 km from Bengaluru.

According to CISF senior officials, the bag contained some explosive substances, IED components and was a potentially low intensity device.

“It (IED) did not have the capacity to damage much. Maybe it was used for some sort of recce (reconnaissance) or something just to create panic,” Anil Pandey, Deputy Inspector General and chief public relations officer of CISF, said.
