India: BSF holds field trial of hand-held ground penetrating radar along Indo-Pak border


The BSF is conducting a field trial of hand-held ground penetrating radar to detect tunnels, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and landmines along the Indo-Pak border.

When deployed, the state-of-the-art equipment will help the BSF in curbing smuggling of arms and drugs besides infiltration of terrorists through the tunnels. The deployment of these portable radar sets will be done once the feedback from the ground is satisfactory, official sources said.

The move to test the efficacy of the hi-tech equipment of Israeli-origin on the ground comes days after the Union Home Ministry gave a go ahead for it.
