After the explosive device were found at Straußfurt station a police spokesman told MDR THÜRINGEN that one of the explosive devices had been burned in a controlled manner, the second device had been defused. According to the the police one of the devices was wrapped in a cloth with a swastika.
Both explosive devices were functional, however detonators necessary for them to explode were not installed. In addition, they were made from different explosives.
Police suspect no terrorist motive. According to the police, the infrastructure of the railway was not a possible target.
