The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) welcomed the birth of 34 new puppies, who are the new generation of canines that will be used to assist the CMAC in its mission to make Cambodia mine-free.
CMAC’s Director Heng Ratana announced the news of the birth of the puppies on his Facebook page on February 14. The Director stated that during the week four litters of puppies were born and all 34 puppies were healthy. Ratana stated that they will be trained to be a warrior for the safety of human society.
CMAC started to strengthen cooperation and Mine Detection Dog Program from 2002 until 2016. Currently, CMAC has moved from outsourcing dogs from abroad to be used in Cambodia’s demining efforts to becoming an international supplier of dogs and supporting domestic operations.
