Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and the Philippines Mine Action organised a three-day stakeholders’ workshop in Phnom Penh to review the challenges posed by mines and the state of mine action in the Philippines with specific attention to Mindanao and the Bangsamoro region.
The talks reviewed the experience of other ASEAN nations (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand and Afghanistan) in terms of mine action coordination.
At the start of the workshop yesterday, Senior Minister Ly Thuch, who serves as the First Vice-President of CMAA said that “I hope that from May 1 the CMAA will be ready to support mine action in the region.”
