Burkina Faso: Six dead in explosion in northern country


At least six people, including children, were killed on Saturday evening by the explosion of an improvised device as their cart passed through a region of northern Burkina Faso facing jihadist attacks, sources learned on Sunday. “A cart driven by a group of children exploded on top of a homemade device Saturday at around 5 pm. The provisional toll is six dead and four injured, ” said a security source.

“The wounded were evacuated to the CHR (Regional Hospital Center) in Ouahigouya. A (military) team was sent on site to ascertain and secure the area, ”said this source. The victims are “almost all children who were returning from pasture with their animals” when their cart exploded “on the mine”, according to a resident of Ouahigouya.
