The bomb squad, the dog squad and the army have been called in after forensic cleaners found explosives in a shed at a house in Kew.
Gelignite and a small mortar were among the items found in an overflowing and half-collapsed shed at the back of the three-bedroom home.
Police were called to the Parkhill Road property about 9am on Thursday. Explosive specialists from the ADF also arrived to check the explosives, as did a WorkSafe assessor.
The dog squad also surveyed the brick house.
