West Virginia: Jackson County man pleads guilty to possessing pipe bomb


A Jackson County man has entered a guilty plea connected to possessing a pipe bomb.

A West Virginia State Police trooper pulled over Nicholas Boggess of Ripley in October 2019. The trooper noticed the odor of marijuana and obtained permission to search Boggess’s vehicle. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy assisted with the search and discovered a pipe bomb in a backpack located in the vehicle’s trunk.

Boggess, 26, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Act.
