13 roadside bombs, landmines are defused in Afghanistan

The Afghan Interior Ministry said on Wednesday that, 13 roadside bombs and landmines in four provinces were exposed and defused by Afghan national security forces during a day.

The ministry said in a statement that, engineering teams of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) discovered and neutralized 13 roadside bombs after some hours of efforts and point-to-point search operations in Helmand, Khost, Paktika and Farah regions during the last 24 hours.

Taliban militants have been using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to make roadside bombs and landmines for aiming security forces, but the lethal home-produced weapons also caused losses on civilians.

The statement also said that, discoveries like this express the ever-increasing ability of ANDSF to defend the civilians from indiscriminate IED attacks.
