Puyallup police were trying to arrest a domestic violence suspect after a lengthy standoff when the man detonated an explosive device, killing himself and sending four officers and a K-9 to the hospital.
The 46-year-old man had forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment before tackling her to the ground and punching her in the head, police said in a news release. He tried to stop her from calling 911, but he ran away when she got a hold of her phone and called the police.
