Ukraine: EOD units have seized and destroyed more than 1,142 explosive objects in 2022


The State Emergency Service EOD teams work all over the country to detect, seize and destroy explosive ordnance from previous conflicts.

The day before, bomb disposal units responded to 9 calls, during which 16 explosive objects were seized and destroyed. In Zhytomyr region the State Emergency Service EOD techs rendered safe two historic UXOs, found near the villages of Yarniv and Khychiv, Zhytomyr region. In the first case, an unknown metal object found by scrap metal workers, in the second – by a member of public.

After arriving at the scene, bomb techs identified the finds as artillery shells from the times of past wars. All seized explosive objects were taken to a safe place and destroyed by detonation.
