A controlled explosion was carried out at a County Durham beach as an unexploded ordnance was found.
Durham Police were called at about 5.20pm on Thursday (May 7) following reports of an unexploded ordnance on waste land close to the beach in Crimdon.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Experts from the army’s bomb disposal unit were also called and safely disposed of the item in a controlled explosion.
