A bomb disposal squad has been called to a beach near St Austell after reports of a ‘suspicious object’ being found.
A 999 call was made from Porthpean Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
A phosphorus marker flare was found and the Royal Navy EOD team from Plymouth was called to the scene to destroy it.
Coastguard crews say more of these objects may wash up over the coming weeks, and people are asked to report them.
