UK: Controlled explosion at Ellesmere Port school after ‘hazardous substance’ found


The bomb squad were called to an Ellesmere Port school after the discovery of a “hazardous substance.”

Cheshire Police were immediately informed after the Ellesmere Port C of E College discovered the substance on their property on Tuesday (January 5), reports Cheshire Live.

The EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) team attended the Ellesmere Port school, which did not have any students on campus at the time, and following an assessment, carried out the controlled detonation yesterday morning (Wednesday)

EP College’s Head of Science Mr Loon was given the honour of pressing the button to set off the explosion.
