UK: Bomb squad carry out controlled explosion on Gwynedd beach

The bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion on a “rusty device” found on a Gwynedd beach this morning.

The discovery of the 14-inch long metal tube in Aberdesach, near Caernarfon just after 11.30am saw emergency crews attend.

Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team went to investigate the scene shortly afterwards, sending pictures to Holyhead Coastguard who, in turn, referred them to the Explosive Ordnance Company (EOD) for review.
