Turkey ‘is sending cluster bombs to Ukraine’ as it treads a tightrope in relations with Russia

Turkey is sending Ukraine US-designed cluster bombs after Kyiv was denied the weapons by Washington, it is claimed.

American and European officials have told Foreign Policy that Ankara is supplying Ukraine with the potent – but controversial – artillery-fired weapon, with which it can target Russian tanks and troops.

While some nations have taken clear sides in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine – with most Western countries decisively backing the victim of Moscow’s aggression – other nations have adopted a more ambiguous position, and none more so that Turkey.
