International travelers will have noticed that security screening at U.S. and European airports is not the same. While both TSA and ECAC have rigorous security screening standards, the approach can be quite different.
TSA and ECAC, for instance, have different rules regarding the removal of electronics from carry-on bags, the removal of outer garments and shoes, and the acceptability of liquid, gels, and creams. By standardizing requirements, screening equipment, and operating procedures, TSA and ECAC hope to make the international traveler’s experience less confusing and more efficient.
