A Sevier County Sheriff’s Office investigation into an explosion at a home in the Ellis Woods Loop area has led to an arrest, Sheriff Michael Hodges announced Monday.
The explosion happened Sunday. Hodges said an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) technician from the Pigeon Forge Police Department responded to make sure the scene was safe. Further investigation, Hodges said, has led to the arrest of 43-year-old Alexander Joseph Piccione. He was charged with having a prohibited weapon. According to Piccione’s warrant, he told officers he was trying to make a flash bang when it went off. The warrant also said officers found chemicals and other supplies in the house to make explosives.
