Carver Barracks played host to an enthusiastic team of students earlier this month, giving them a taste of what life is like on the front line.
The 33 Engineers Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) put on a series of punishing challenges to test the youngsters’ teamwork, fitness, discipline and leadership skills, with an array of tasks including bomb disposal, field cooking, and vehicle recovery.
The 200 students visited the site from the Uniformed and Public Services faculty at Cambridge Regional College, and were formed into nine teams with ten different challenges set.
An emergency casualty evacuation, fire drill and session on riot control were also on the list of tasks.
Lecturer Stuart Clarke, who organised the day, said: “It was a fantastic experience for the students and we are very grateful for all the amazing support we received from Major Shepperson and the 33 EOD Regiment.”
