Somalia: Bomb blasts in Mogadishu and Lower Shabelle kill six, injure several others


Two separate bomb blasts killed at least three people in Somalia on Saturday, officials said, noting that no group had taken responsibility for explosions in Mogadishu and Lower Shabelle, which also left scores of people critically injured.

The first blast targeted a restaurant in Mogadishu, killing at least three people and injuring three others, police said. Vehicle carrying explosives was detonated near Gel Doh restaurant in Hamarweyne, close to the National Theatre. The second explosion was recorded in Lower Shabelle where the Somali National Army, the local militia the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), and the US Africa Command are involved in active operations.
