Russia: FSB foils terrorist plot against Baltic Fleet facilities in Kaliningrad Region


A Kaliningrad resident was apprehended by the Federal Security Service – the FSB – for plotting terrorist attacks against the Baltic Fleet’s facilities and Khrabrovo Airport on instructions from the Azov terrorist organization (outlawed in Russia), the FSB told TASS on Thursday.

“Russia’s Federal Security Service has thwarted a terrorist attack on military and transport infrastructure facilities in the Kaliningrad Region,” the FSB reported. A resident of Kaliningrad born in 1967, who supported the Azov international terrorist organization (outlawed in Russia), was detained for plotting terrorist attacks on the Baltic Fleet’s facilities and personnel as well as Khrabrovo Airport, the FSB specified.

A self-made explosive device, containing roughly 5 kg of TNT equivalent, was found in his cache, and the individual in question confessed.
